In Russia, this kind of art was even called differently than in the whole world - animation. Let it not be the name, but there is a certain symbol in it - the leading masters of this genre followed a special domestic tradition, when the maximum meaning, feeling, mood was invested in the shortest film.

Alexander Tatarsky was the personification of this approach, although his work opened a completely new page in domestic animation.

Innate feeling

Humor in his films is a special concept. Its origins become more clear when you learn about the family in which the famous director-animator was born. He was born on December 11, 1950 in Kyiv, in a family of "circus". Mikhail Semenovich Tatarsky, Sasha's father, had an amazing speci alty - he composed reprises for clowns. His sketches were performed by the stars of this genre - Pencil, Leonid Yengibarov, Oleg Popov, Mikhail Shuidin and Yuri Nikulin, who often came to visit.

From Kyiv to Moscow

Education that Alexander Tatarsky received - Kyiv Institute of Theater and Cinema (1974). His speci alty is a film writer-film critic-editor, and the three-year courses of animators at the Ukrainian State Film Committee seem to be the ideal solution for the path that he has gone: from independent short films to his own studio and large volume projects, which became the "Mountain of Gems".

There was also a visit as a free student of the Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors, when he was already working in Moscow at the TV studio "Ekran". The initial period of life in the capital was not easy in many respects, but the importance of Moscow as the best place where a person who feels he has enough potential to achieve success was characteristic of Moscow both in the past and, apparently, will continue in the future.

A bright start

Alexander Tatarsky showed himself to be a real professional at the studio when he participated in the development of animated screensavers for TV reports from the sports arenas of the Moscow Olympics. Soon, as an encouragement, he was allowed to produce his own film. Soon, some frivolity of their decision became clear to the authorities. The literary basis lay in ideologically incomprehensible poems, and the author of the music, Grigory Gladkov, was not even a member of the Union of Composers. The vigilant executives had an iron reason for the ban - "flagrant lack of ideas", but the cartoon was willfully shown in "Kinopanorama" and escaped to the viewer. Everything about him was unusual: lightness, humor, interesting visual technique and unrestrained imagination. The film later received 25 different film awards, and Alexander Tatarsky became one of the undisputed leaders of the new domestic animation.

Plasticine masterpieces

The screensaver for the program "Good night kids", which is still on today, has been changed several times. Since 1981, the plasticine one has been considered the best. When it was declared obsolete and replaced with a more “modern” one, letters from adults and young viewers began to arrive, and after minor changes, the classic one, which was invented by Alexander Tatarsky, returned to the screens. The cartoons used to put the children to sleep were very different, and the program began and ended the same way with different interruptions for more than 20 years. This ability to create minute-long masterpieces that can withstand several thousand shows will be especially useful to Tatarsky and his studio in the difficult 90s, when they fulfilled orders for the most influential television companies in the world.

After the first screening of the film "Last Year's Snow Was Falling", which took place on December 31, 1983, it was sold in quotes, becoming one of the usual attributes of New Year's days. Pilot and Gems Mountain

Such people are called "holiday people", they always expected practical jokes, surprises, new ideas from him. The onset of the period of dictate of new economic relations, before which there was a time of complete emptiness in stores and wallets, was the time for such - enterprising, energetic, able to remain positive.

His favorite brainchild was the Pilot studio, which Tatarsky created in 1988. Alexander, whose wife, Alina, was also "found" at the studio, considered her his family. How much he experienced when the studio became a supplier of high-quality personnel for overseas animation, and one after another, his comrades-in-arms flew away for a prosperous and prosperous life, it became clear later, when his heart was completely tired.

In his last project - the grandiose "Mountain of Gems" there was a lot of things that have never been seen before, a lot of things that are "in trend" now.
