Moscow, Kaluzhskaya metro station: construction
Kaluzhskaya is a column-type station with a small depth (only ten meters) with 3 spans.
This building was built according to the project of architects Yu. A. Kolesnikova and N. I. Demchinsky. The main hall has a design of a typical project, called a “centipede”, however, it differs slightly from this type in the step of the columns and their number (the distance in the row between the columns is 6.5 m, 26 columns are arranged in 2 rows).
The columns of the hall are finished with Baikal pink marble, the track walls - with white ceramic tiles decorated with metal inserts (M. A. Shmakov, A. A. Leontieva), and the floors are lined with gray granite.
The theme of the bas-reliefs is space exploration.
Kaluzhskaya metro station does not have its own ground lobby. The city can only be reached through underground passages leading to the street. Obruchev, Profsoyuznaya, Khlebobulochny and Nauchny proezds, on the Starokaluzhskoe highway and on Academician Keldysh Square.
