There are only two cinemas in Vitebsk: Dom Kino and Mir. The first is located at the address: Vitebsk, st. Lenina, 40, and the second can be found on Chekhov Street, 3. Both cinemas in Vitebsk look rather unattractive from the outside. Previously, there were seven such entertainment venues in the city.
Where is the city of Vitebsk
This provincial town is located near the northeastern outskirts of the Republic of Belarus, not far from the Smolensk region of Russia. It is the administrative capital of the Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus and the second oldest city in the country after Polotsk. According to legend, it was founded by Princess Olga.
Cinema "Mir" in Vitebsk
The Mir Cinema is located in the northern part of Vitebsk, in the Oktyabrsky district of the city. This is a building of the Soviet era, it was built back in 1961 and has changed little since then.
On the right side of the entrance is the ticket office, and on the left side is a small, stall-like cinema bar. Here you can buy a cocktail, popcorn, cotton candy and other sweets. Posters advertising upcoming film premieres are made in the provincial style of the Soviet era, and for those over 30, they can evoke a feeling of nostalgia for childhood or adolescence. The appearance of the building will also remind you of the Soviet past.
However, there are also elements of modernity: a payment terminal and an electronic scoreboard. Tickets for the session can be ordered online. Plastic windows are also reminiscent of the modern era. Plumbing in the cinema building is updated and of good quality. But otherwise, the interior decoration and doors are very reminiscent of those that were in the past. There is a lot of greenery in the building.
The hall is quite simple, but the chairs are soft and new. There are few visitors in Mir. You can watch movies in 3D.
Cinema "House of Cinema"
This cinema in Vitebsk is the oldest cinema in this city and even in all of Belarus. At first it was called "Record", later - "Spartak". This cinema center received its modern name in 2006. The building itself is also ancient - it was built more than 100 years ago. The exterior is finished in pink tones. Now this house is considered an architectural monument. Film screenings have been converted from analogue to digital.
The film screening hall has a capacity of 517 seats. It contains:
- comfortable soft chairs;
- modern digital cinema equipment;
- speaker system for creating Dolby surround sound;
- equipment for showing 3D movies;
- 11.2 by 4.7 meters screen.
The building has a spacious lobby,box office, lobby and cinema history room.
Thus, the cinemas of Vitebsk are an opportunity to watch films in a cozy atmosphere, without pomposity, but in a quality acceptable by modern standards.
