This class has 11 units, one of which is the Freens. This is a very small detachment of tropical arachnids, the size of which reaches no more than 45 mm. Arachnids - mostly terrestrial animals, only some groups of ticks and spiders are inhabitants of fresh waters, the habitat of only one group is the sea. Arachnids are predators, with the exception of some mites, they feed on plant matter.

There are four pairs of walking legs in individuals of this class of invertebrates, unlike insects. The size of some species of arachnids does not exceed a fraction of one millimeter, for example, parasitic mites. The size of the spiders is 0.5 cm or 2–3 cm.

Burnleg Spider Description

This type of spider is colored reddish or yellowish. The so-called cephalothorax is rather wide, it has 3 pairs of lateral eyes and a pair of medial ones. The abdomen is segmented, without a caudal filament. From here came the name, which in translation from Greek means "stupid ass." The lungs are located on the second and third abdominal segments, there are two pairs of them.

Chelicera are short, with a hook-shaped segment at the end. Pedipalps with spines, prehensile, large, terminal segments also hooked. The length of the legs is up to 25 cm, the longest front legs, in which the paws are flexible multi-segmented flagella, like insect antennas. In motion, bugle-legged spiders, moving from place to place sideways, are similar to crabs.

Fryn (spider) is unique for the reason that he is the owner of six walking legs. Other representatives of arachnids have eight. Ordinary people at all times looked at the bug-legged spiders witha nuisance, having heard a lot of different tales.

Phryns - habitats, way of life

Currently, there are 17 genera, 5 families and 136 species of bugle-legged spiders all over the world. Under natural conditions, their habitat is tropical forests with a humid climate. They are nocturnal predators. During the day, the freen (spider) hides in the crevices of rocks, under the lagging bark of fallen trees. Seeing a bright light, the predator freezes, sprawling on the surface of the shelter, if you touch it, it immediately runs away.

As soon as darkness falls, Frin slowly begins to crawl out of his hiding place to hunt. At the same time, it carefully patrols the entire adjacent territory, catching prey with the help of sensitive filamentous processes located on the front pair of legs. Seeing his trophy, he quickly goes on the attack, grabs it with long pedipalps. At dawn, the freen hides in a damp shelter.

How Freenes breed

Puberty of Freens comes in the third year of life. The eggs are located in the female under the abdomen, they are covered with a parchment shell from the secretions of the genital tract. The abdomen, flattening, covers the egg pack. On average, the female lays about 60 eggs. The young Phrynes that were born are first under the abdomen, after a few days they begin to molt and disperse. The one that falls without waiting for a molt runs the risk of being eaten by the female.

During mating rituals, males arrange "fighting" tournaments for the right to be the leader. In some cases, it resembles a real fight. The battleis considered completed when one of the contestants leaves the battlefield. The mating ritual of the Phrynes looks very simple: the victorious male with his pedipalps begins to bring the female to the spermatophore, where she lays her eggs.

Phryns are scary but harmless spiders

Fryn is a spider that has neither spider glands nor venom-secreting glands. Despite the fact that this creature is terrible, in relation to people it is harmless. In English-speaking countries, Freens are called scorpions - whips, as well as scourge spiders. They don't really belong to either one or the other.

It makes no sense to believe that Phryns are poisonous. They look intimidating, but in fact, these predators are very cowardly. They are afraid of any movement and even shadows. Taking a picture of them is quite difficult.

Home maintenance

At home, it is quite possible to keep this species in groups in which 1 male and 2-3 females. Frin is a spider that is an inhabitant of tropical forests, where there is high humidity. This means that at home they should be in a terrarium, the size of which is 40 x 40 x 45 cm. It should have ventilation and normal humidity, to maintain which about 6 cm of substrate can be poured. In addition, a drinking bowl with clean water should be placed.

Pets will be comfortable in the place prepared for them if you put a lot of snags, branches, plants and pieces of bark there. The Phrynes, in the midst of all this abundance, will make their homes and hunt. Terrarium residents should be protected from direct sunlight.necessarily. Illuminate better with a moonlight lamp.

Feeding enough is of great importance, if this is not observed, cannibalism is inevitable. The best food for Freens is crickets or small Turkmen cockroaches.
