Andriyaka's watercolor school is also involved in museum and exhibition activities. This is the direction of her work, which is one of the priorities. The museum and exhibition complex is located on an area of 650 sq. m, its equipment is at the European level. Exhibitions, lectures, musical evenings, master classes are held in the halls of the complex. Further, we will talk in more detail about the Andriyaka Museum in Moscow, which is part of the MVK.
Large-scale exhibition
It includes more than two hundred works of outstanding painters from different countries. A wide audience will see many works for the first time. It's about:
- landscapes by Ivan Shishkin, who was called "the poet of nature";
- watercolors by A. N. Benois, critic and talented art critic;
- sketches by P. A. Bryullov, member of the Imperial Academy of Arts.
The collection of Western European graphics exhibited at the Andriyaka Museum includes names such as:
- James Holversey and Robert Hillsay, who were the founders of the Old Watercolor Society.
- Edward Korbud. He spent about thirty years with the royal English family, where he taught history painting.
Nice variety
And also in the Andriyaka Museum there are works by other brilliant representatives of the English school of the 19th century. Although these masters are little known to our viewers, they enjoy well-deserved recognition in their homeland. The decoration of the collection are paintings by I. I. Navinsky, painter and graphic artist.
The works of Chinese artists bring a pleasant variety to the exposition. They are a reminder that the monumental masterpieces of oriental painting are based on watercolor technique. The original samples of the Soviet and modern period of domestic illustration included in the exposition show the diversity of its artistic possibilities.
Andriyaka's paintings
In the two halls of the International Exhibition Complex, which occupy a central place, a permanent exposition has unfolded. It presents the works of Andriyaka Sergey Nikolaevich. He, being a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, directs the School of Watercolor.
The exhibition includes more than eighty paintings by the master, covering almost thirty years of his work. These are small sheets dating back to the 70-80s of the last century, and monumental canvases created recently. Among the latter are such as:
- "Rain. Fog";
- "Colorful irises";
- “Crimea. Rocky precipice";
- "Lilac".
- Norwegian Fjords and many more.
Goal of the Andriyaka Museum
The museum is the first in the world where visitors can not only enjoy the works of classical artists. Its purpose is to reveal the creative cuisine of artists, methods of working with watercolor, its technological features. The exposition contains many tools and materials of classical watercolor. Sometimes even professionals, art historians, do not know about their existence and methods of application.
The Watercolor Museum also provides information about the theory of painting, which is not widely used. The exposition examines the laws of drawing, painting and composition. This applies to various genres such as:
- classic landscape;
- portrait;
- genre painting;
- still life;
- interior;
- ornament.
Much attention is paid to other important issues concerning the theory of fine arts. It's about:
- culture of body posing and draperies;
- theories of harmonious color combinations;
- different perspective systems;
- methods of proportioning;
- information about the traditions inherent in the classical teaching system;
- psychological aspects of perception.
The Andriyaka Watercolor Museum is just beginning its development. Further it is planned to replenish and expand its collection. The task for the future is to cover all historical eras, starting from the very beginningsfine arts, when primitive artists used the first pigments, to the latest trends in watercolor technique.
