Society is not an unambiguous concept. It can be understood as humanity as a whole, as well as a specific group of people formed for some purpose. The traditional answer to the question of what a society is is the following definition: "Separated from nature, but associated with it, a social group of individuals with a will and interacting with each other." It is a system of connected elements, characterized by constant self-development.
To simplify the analysis of society, it is customary to divide it into spheres or subsystems. These include the following:
- Economic subsystem. It regulates material relations between various elements of society.
- Social subsystem. It includes various class and layer structures that interact with each other.
- Political subsystem. It regulates the relationship between the individual and the state, party activities, etc.
- Spiritual subsystem. It includes various cultural institutions: art, religion, etc.
All the above spheres of society mutually penetrate each other, developing and updating over time. They alsoare interdependent, which leads to the harmonious coexistence of all these subsystems and their components.
We can observe the development of society from the time of prehistoric communities. In the course of constant interaction of people, scientific and spiritual progress takes place. But what is a society if there is no leader in it? As a rule, in any society there are many chapters that are responsible for certain areas of life. And the more developed it becomes, the more leaders it has. If the government and society are in a harmonious relationship, such an alliance contributes to the development of the latter.
Currently, each of the areas has its own leaders. The political system of modern Russian society is regulated by the government, the religious system - by the heads of the church, and so on. This structure helps to avoid conflict situations and misunderstandings. And the regulation of intersectoral relations by centralized power structures should ensure a fair assessment of their activities.
What is an ideal society? This is a harmonious combination of all interacting spheres, which is in constant development. But in fact, the life of society rarely does without conflict situations and erroneous actions. People have not yet learned how to deal with it. This is probably the result of differences in the interests of representatives of various social groups. And it may well be that the achievement of an ideal society in the conditions of modern life is impossible.
So, what is a society? We can safely say that this is the totality of allexisting social groups and cells. Its main function is to facilitate and improve the lives of individuals. And even if it does not always do it perfectly, it is in constant development, and maybe sooner or later it will reach a stage where it can be called perfect. The main thing is that people should not forget that it is they who are building society, it depends on them what it will be like tomorrow.
