Is a nationalist a diagnosis?

The ideas of "freedom, equality and fraternity", alas, although officially fixed in various program documents of international organizations and constitutions, nevertheless, have not become convictions for all people. Probably never will - such is human nature. People tend to strive to be or at least consider themselves better than others. Rivalry is in our genes.

Sadly, with no other reason to "be better", people begin to use we alth, race, gender or age to assert their superiority. A nationalist is a person who is convinced of the greater, predominant value of one people over the rest. This concept should not be associated only with fascist Germany. Alas, a nationalist is a person with a certain system of beliefs and values, regardless of his political affiliation.

It would be a mistake to consider these people and patriots. Loving one's country does not mean hatred or contempt for everyone else. Unlike a patriot, a nationalist is one who is concerned not so much with the good for "their own" asexpulsion and punishment of "outsiders". There is polarity in the beliefs of such a person. His nation is assessed unambiguously positively, all the rest - negatively. Non-existent shortcomings, sins are attributed to them, the very fact of a different color of eyes or hair, a different surname and origin is imputed. Let us remember the sad experience of the totalitarians

states. When the idea is born that one nation is an enemy and needs to be eradicated, or that some people can control others and subordinate them to their will. It is then that the deepest tragedies occur. People become cruel and merciless towards their neighbors. All previous conflicts, problems and disputes are summed up under the "national sign".

Currently, civilized nations condemn the politics of hate. A nationalist is a supporter of the idea of the superiority of one people and the need to exterminate another. No matter how beautiful slogans these people hide behind, their essence is inhuman. We can safely say that such chauvinistic ideas take root faster and more effectively among the poorly educated population. Because people who do not have deep knowledge of history, geography, ethnography are much easier to convince that all their problems are caused by the presence of a "foreign element". Recall how during the Second World War, Ukrainian nationalists massacred the civilian population (for example, in Volyn). Or Jewish pogroms and anti-Semitism in Russia and Europe. Alas, nationalism is raising its head even now. European statestake all possible measures to eradicate and level any ideas that incite

enmity and hatred. From time immemorial Russia has been a multinational state. The richness of its culture is precisely due to the heritage of different peoples. And therefore, Russian nationalists must not be allowed to direct their efforts to suppress or expel representatives of other peoples. The policy of peace and harmony should be thought out and implemented competently. It is impossible to resist the world tendencies of internationalization and globalization. Consequently, the only solution to the complex problems and conflicts in this area lies in the education and promotion of tolerance and good neighborliness. In addition, one should definitely remember that in the field of interethnic relations the principle "as it comes around, it will respond" applies. And if we do not want the Russian minority to be oppressed and be in a humiliated position in other states, we ourselves must also not allow such an attitude towards other peoples. Nationalism is a disease that can develop into Nazism if political conditions are created. And since there is no stability in our time without it, we cannot allow the epidemic to spread.
