Yevgeny Savchenko is the governor of the Belgorod region, who has held the post of head of the region four times in a row. Belgorod residents several times in a row chose Savchenko as a candidate for the leadership of the region.

Governor education

Since 1980, Evgeny Savchenko worked in the district and regional bodies of the CPSU and was appointed first deputy chairman of the executive committee of the Rakityan Council. In 1989 he became a member of the Council of People's Deputies. 1993 was the starting point in Savchenko's career. Mikhail Beskhmelnitsyn and Vladimir Zhirinovsky competed for the post of governor of the Belgorod region, gaining 19% and 17% of the vote, respectively. In 2003, he received the mandate of a deputy of the State Duma, but refused it, and again won the elections, receiving 61% of the vote. Aunts, nieces, sons-in-law and godfathers are rumored to hold most of the top positions in the region.

Nevertheless, no matter what rumors and scandals surround the head of the region, the region holds the first place in terms of prosperity and economic development. The last requirement of the governor was to raise the minimum wage at enterprises to 22,000 rubles.
