Dmitry Bykovsky was born in the city of Frunze, Kirghiz SSR on January 29, 1969. Father Alexei worked as a blacksmith, and his mother was a housewife. After studying there successfully for four years, after graduation, the aspiring actor got a job at the Volgograd New Experimental Theater, and after, in 2000, continued his career at the Lipetsk Drama Theater.

To reach a higher level compared to work in provincial cities, Dmitry was allowed by chance, namely, he was noticed by Natalya Leonova, a talented director from the cultural capital of Russia. The actor did not hesitate to move to the capital, where since 2003 he worked in the troupe of the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater and at the same time tried his hand at film roles. Then he auditioned for the film "Pure in Life", where he played a bodyguard (one of the main roles).

After working at the Bolshoi Theater for 10 years, he moved to the theater on Vasilyevsky Island.
