The Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorism is a black date in the calendar of any nation, soaked in its blood and tears. On this day, it is customary to honor the memory of those who became victims of terrorist acts, those whose lives were forcibly taken away without any right.
Each nation has its own day of remembrance of the dead, and hence its own bitter history. And so that no one forgets about these tragedies, let us recall the most large-scale terrorist attacks. About those terrible and tragic events that will echo in the hearts of people for a long time to come.
What is terrorism?
But the story needs to be told from its beginning, from what caused everything - terrorism. Dictionaries reveal this concept as a way of imposing political ideas through aggression. That is, terrorists want to influence the decisions of the authorities through violence, thus demonstrating to them their strength and determination.
Terrorism itself arose in ancient times, but only now it has reached its shocking proportions. The reason for this is a huge selection of weapons that can hit hundreds, and sometimes thousands of people at one time. Yes, and yourselfterrorists have changed a lot, throwing away all humane feelings. Now neither the sex nor the age of the victims stops them.
September 11 - International Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism
In September 2001, the world was shaken with horror because of the events that took place in America. On the morning of September 11, terrorists seized 4 Boeings, along with their crew and passengers.
A few hours later, two of them hit the world-famous Twin Towers, which was the largest shopping center in New York. The third was sent to the strategic center of America - the Pentagon. As for the last plane, thanks to the efforts of the passengers, it did not reach the target, but still this did not save them from a sad fate.
In general, almost 3 thousand people died that day. The whole world sympathized with the Americans and despised the al-Qaeda terrorists. That is why the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorism was celebrated on September 11 for a long time.
Fire and tears - a terrorist attack in Europe
Europeans sympathized with America with all their hearts, but soon their own tragedy made them cry with grief. March 11, 2004 a series of powerful explosions occurred in the capital of Spain - Madrid.
This time the terrorists of the same al-Qaeda organization decided to use trains. They planted 13 bombs in the capital's three largest trains, which are always full of passengers. Fortunately, only 4 devices exploded, which reduced the number of victims. And yet more than 200 people died at once, and approximately 700 were sent to the hospital with severe injuries and burns. In all, more than three thousand civilians were victims of this horrific atrocity.
And now March 11 is celebrated in Europe as the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.
Russian day of mourning
Russia is a great country where people of different nationalities and religions live. It is not surprising that conflicts and disputes often arise within such a multinational state. But more sadly, some see their solution only in aggression, and therefore, victims of terrorist attacks also appear here.
The saddest incident occurred on September 1, 2004 in the city of Beslan, which is located on the territory of the Ossetian Republic. On this day, the militants took hostage the students of the local school. The conflict could not be resolved peacefully - as a result, 186 children died, as well as 148 adults.
In memory of the events of that day, September 3rd became the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism in Russia. And now, every year, the prayers of millions of people cry out to the souls of the departed.
How to avoid becoming a victim of a terrorist attack?
In our time, it is impossible to completely protect yourself from a possible terrorist attack, because no one knows where the invisible enemy will strike next time. And although each country has special organizations that do everything possible to protect their residents from possible dangers, the risk of a terrorist attack, unfortunately, always remains.
But the security of the country also depends on the people themselves. So, annually on September 3 in all educationalinstitutions in Russia conduct special lessons, the purpose of which is to explain to children what to do in the event of a terrorist attack. They are told how to behave at the first sign of a threat and what to do if they still fail to escape.
As for the adult population of the country, they should first of all be vigilant. Report all suspicious subjects, abandoned bags, and overheard conversations. After all, this will help not only save your life, but also protect others.
