On the modern arms market there is a wide range of pistol and revolver systems. Judging by the numerous reviews, revolvers are in great demand. Since 1953, the American arms company Ruger has been producing its shooting products for such consumers. Information about Ruger revolver models, device and technical characteristics is contained in the article.
Introduction
According to many experts, high quality workmanship and reliability are inherent in all models of Ruger revolvers. The main feature of these rifle units is the presence of a special push-button latch for the drum. It, judging by the numerous reviews of the owners, is no less convenient than the sliding one, which the Smith-Wesson company uses for its products. The drum has fixing notches. In the six-shot version of the revolver, the American designers shifted the notches away from the chamber, thanks to which the drum walls retained their previous thickness and strength. In the production of Ruger revolvers, stainless steel is used, which undergoes a matte finish. They also use durable rubber for the cheeks of the handles, which are attached to the weapon whenscrews.
About device
For Ruger revolvers, a trigger mechanism is provided, designed for double action. In the USM design, the trigger is open and there is a blocking rod. Judging by the reviews of the owners, if necessary, it is not difficult to clean and lubricate the weapon, since the trigger mechanism is contained in a removable unit. Due to this, the risk of losing any individual part during incomplete disassembly and assembly is minimized. Rotation and fixation of the drum is performed until the trigger is fully cocked. The barrel of the revolver has an underbarrel tide with smooth contours. Interchangeable front and rear sights are used as sighting devices. The latter is a special slot in the frame. In order to speed up aiming, the owner of a revolver can install a fiber optic insert instead of a front sight.
Single Six
This model is the first Ruger revolver in 22 gauge. The first batch was released in 1953. The basis for this rifle unit was the "Colt M1873" - a six-shot revolver with a single trigger mechanism. The Colt had a one-piece frame, a charging door and a ramrod ejector. In an effort to increase the operational life of the Ruger, instead of leaf springs, twisted cylindrical springs were installed in the revolver, and the frame shield was equipped with an inertial drummer. Initially, 22 LR cartridges were intended for Single Six. However, later they began to produce revolvers chambered for the Winchester-Magnum 22 rimfire cartridge. The Ruger revolver has a total length of 30 cm, the barrel is 16.5 cm. With an emptywith ammunition, a rifle unit weighs no more than 980 g. The drum of a 22-caliber revolver contains 6 rounds each.
Ruger Blackhawk
This modification has been produced in the United States of America since 1955. Structurally, this revolver practically does not differ from its predecessor. The Bleckhawk was created for 357 magnum ammunition. Revolvers come to the gun counters in several versions, which differ from each other in the length of the barrels. Weapons with 4, 6; 6, 5 and 10 inch barrels. In all three versions, revolvers with adjustable micrometer screws sights. Without ammunition, the Ruger weighs up to 1190. The drum is equipped with six rounds.
Security Six
The production of revolvers of this model was established in 1968. According to experts, this is the first modern revolver of the arms company Ruger. The rifle unit has a double trigger mechanism with a safety plate, a solid frame, a drum that leans to the side. Its fixation is carried out using a special latch, which is located on the left side of the frame. Under the barrel there is a fixed case with a rod for ejection of cartridges. Security Six comes in two flavors:
- Speed Six. Revolvers have rounded grips. In an effort to make concealed carry possible, gunsmiths removed the tails from the triggers. This modification is presented in two versions: revolvers with 2, 75 and 4-inch barrels.
- Police Service Six. Firstrifle variants had both fixed and variable sights. Soon these options were divided. Revolvers that were equipped with variable sights are listed as Security Six, firearms with fixed sights are listed as Police Service Six. In the latter version, in order to make concealed carrying possible, weapon designers changed the outlines of the handles. Also, Police Service Six revolvers did not have 6-inch barrels. Shooting was carried out with 9 mm Parabellum cartridges. For this reason, the revolvers of this modification were also called "model 209".
Redhawk
The Ruger Redhawk revolver is a heavy hunting handgun made from stainless steel. Produced since 1979. This revolver was fired with a.44 Remington magnum cartridge. The Redhawk was only made with 7.5-inch barrels.
Super Redhawk
This is the largest model in the Ruger gun range. Super Redhawk revolvers fire the most powerful cartridges: magnum 44, Casull 454, Ruger 480. The shooting unit has a solid frame and a massive front ledge. It covers the breech of the barrel - the part of the revolver, which is most affected during operation. In the drum, the fixation recesses are displaced. The frames of the revolvers are equipped with special grooves for fasteners for mounting optical or collimator sights.
Thanks to this Super design featureRedhawk is in great demand among athletes. As sighting devices, a rear sight and a front sight adjustable in two planes are used. For the latter, only horizontal adjustment and a bright insert are provided. A revolver with a double-action trigger mechanism. Available in two versions: with 190 and 241 mm barrels. The length of the revolvers is 330 and 381 mm. With empty ammunition, rifle units weigh 1502 and 1644 each. The drum is designed for 6 ammunition. Revolvers of this modification have been produced since 1979.
GP-100

The interaction of the drummer with the trigger is carried out using a special transfer rod, which rises to the drummer only after pressing the trigger. Revolver with twisted mainspring. The weapon is made from ordinary or stainless steel. At the back of the frame there are two locks that are responsible for fixing the drum. The trigger and trigger are a separate removable module, the location of which is the trigger guard, which is very convenient when servicing the revolver.
The weapon is produced with barrels 76, 102 and 152 mm long. Shooting is carried out with magnum 357 and Special 38 ammunition. With empty ammunition, the weight of the revolvers is 1 thousand and 1300 g. The drums are designed for 6 rounds.
