The cities of the Tomsk region are only partly similar to other cities in Russia. Located in the taiga, with the exception of Seversk, they have their own characteristics, as they are inhabited by people who are mainly engaged in logging, wood processing, and oil workers. This can be explained both by the northern location of the region and by the fact that 68% of its territory is occupied by taiga. This region is rich in deposits of oil and other minerals.
