About childhood
The boy grew up extremely inquisitive. He liked, as, indeed, almost all children, to play cards on the playground with the guys, arrange games of hide and seek. Other youthful amusements were not alien to him.
But most of all Sergei Onishchenko liked the sky from an early age. For many hours the boy looked up, hoping that he would fly to him.the magician is in blue, but not in a helicopter, but on an airplane. And he will give not a popsicle, but just one flight on a mighty winged ship.
Like other children, Sergei liked to play with soldiers. When he and the guys built fortifications and divided the soldiers into good and bad, Onishchenko thought only of one thing - about the planes. Brilliant ideas for building aircraft in a squadron were born in his head. He thought about how they would methodically destroy enemy air formations.
Study and first steps in aviation
The boy was born after the boom of "Stalin's falcons", which thundered before the Second World War. However, the boy's love for airplanes seems to have been innate. Sergei Onishchenko enters the Kharkov Higher Military Aviation School, which he successfully graduates in 1975.
Sergey's studies don't end there. A few years later, he entered the Air Force Academy named after the famous cosmonaut Y. Gagarin, where he graduated in 1983.
And in 1997 he graduated from the Faculty of Specialist Training at the Operational-Strategic Academy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At that time, Sergei Onishchenko was already considered a master of public administration in military affairs.

Sergey served in different positions:
- pilot;
- senior pilot;
- commander of an aviation squadron, regiment and division;
- navigator;
- deputy commander of the aviation regiment for trainingpilots;
- deputy chief of combat training of the Air Force of Ukraine and other equally significant posts.
The list is quite large, Sergey Onishchenko has gone from a novice pilot to a true specialist in his profession.
Firing
In February 2012, by decree of President Sergei Onishchenko, he was dismissed from the post of commander of the Ukrainian air force. This happened due to the poor he alth of the pilot, which is not at all surprising, because Sergey devoted a lot of time to work, sometimes forgetting about himself.
The former commander was left the right to wear a military uniform and retained all the regalia. Today he is listed as retired. The post of Sergei Onishchenko was taken by Major General Yuri Baidak.
