Sevastopol is not just a hero city that annually attracts tens of thousands of tourists with its beauties and sights. It is also a large fishing and commercial port, as well as a cultural, historical, recreational, scientific, technical and industrial center, in which, in addition to everything, the main naval base of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation is located. This city, like many others, is divided into several small territorial units. And all districts of Sevastopol are unique, interesting and successful for living in their own way. However, first things first.
Nakhimovsky district
It was formed in 1957. First of all, it should be noted with attention, talking about the districts of Sevastopol, since it is from here that the city actually begins.
At the time of the current 2017, the population of this territorial unit is approximately 115,000 people (with an area of 231.5 km2). This is slightly more than a quarter of the citizens officially registered in the hero city.
The Nakhimovsky district includes the Ship and North sides of Sevastopol, as well asVerkhnesadovy, Andreevsky and Kachinsky municipal districts. Looking at the map, you can understand that its expanses go far. From the extreme point of the Nakhimovsky district, which is the village of Verkhnesadovoye, it is only a 10-minute drive to Bakhchisarai, and this is already a different city (the former capital of the Crimean Khanate, by the way).
Useful information
If we talk about the districts of Sevastopol, then it is necessary to note a few nuances that can be useful for tourists and people who want to move here.
One part of the Nakhimovsky district is very convenient. The one closest to the center. From there, it is easy to get to the main city attractions, and transport links are well developed. In this area there is a railway and bus stations, as well as two of the largest city beaches covered with sand - Lyubimovka and Uchkuevka. The first of these is surrounded by vineyards and orchards, and the second is almost buried in pine and acacia groves. Lyubimovka and Uchkuevka are the centers of the beach industry. They are very popular with tourists and people who want to invest in real estate.
But other municipal districts of the Nakhimovsky district are inconvenient. To the same Verkhnesadovoe, for example, it takes about 45 minutes by train, and this is only from the station.
Leninsky district
It should also be noted with attention when talking about the city of Sevastopol. Leninsky district (until 1961 called Stalinsky) occupies only 26 km2, which makes it the smallest territorial unit. However, in its territoryas many people live as in all of Nakhimovsky.
Many people are wondering: what is the best area of Sevastopol from a tourist point of view? Definitely Leninsky. On the territory of this area there is the Tower of the Winds, Grafskaya Pier, Pokrovsky and Vladimir Cathedrals, Former Kenassa, the Military History Museum of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the Sailor Club, the Monument to the Sailor and the Soldier, as well as the symbol of the city - the Monument to the Scuttled Ships.
Infrastructure
This area is perfect for anyone to live. The social infrastructure is highly developed here. There are 33 kindergartens, three vocational schools, a sports school, a boarding school, 14 general educational institutions, 17 clinics and hospitals, 2 theaters, 7 cinema halls, 2 swimming pools, 3 stadiums and much more.
By the way, in the Leninsky district there is one of the largest shopping areas that Sevastopol has. The Ostryakova district (prospect, to be more precise) includes the "5 kilometer" - the same market. You can find anything there. For this, in fact, people go there.
However, it is impossible to list everything, since about 800 enterprises belonging to various fields of activity are registered in the entire Leninsky district.
Gagarinsky District
This is the most populated territorial unit of the city. And if you rank the districts of Sevastopol in terms of development activity, then Gagarinsky will definitely top this list. At the moment, its free territories are being built up with new houses, shops, hotels, trade enterprises, institutions of cultural and mass work. There is also the largest wholesale market - Metro.
Today, the Gagarinsky district is a complex of large industrial, radio-electronic, construction, research and design enterprises. On its territory there are several secondary specialized educational institutions, schools and universities. It is also impossible not to mention 22 sanitary-epidemiological and medical institutions.
Worth remembering
Naturally, most people are interested in what are the tourist areas of Sevastopol. Reviews, as well as real information, will help you figure it out.
The sea, interesting places and sights - it's all to the Gagarinsky district. The legendary national reserve Tauric Chersonese belongs to its territory. This is a small piece of Greece in Sevastopol. Chersonesus was the name of a polis founded by people from Heraclea Pontus back in 424/421 BC.
The "heart" of the Gagarinsky district can be considered Victory Park, which occupies 50 hectares of area. It is a popular holiday destination with several city beaches, bars, clubs and restaurants. You can walk to the coastline from the entrance to the park in 15 minutes. The path lies through a picturesque alley of plane trees, poplars, maples, pines, junipers, rosemaries, chestnuts and other trees ennobled with paved paths and benches.
Another prominent place in the area is the armoredbattery number 35, located in the Cossack Bay. This is a well-known fortification of the Coastal Defense of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, erected at the beginning of the 20th century. The battery withstood the entire defense of Sevastopol in 1941/42. Today it is a well-known historical and memorial complex. Nearby is the state oceanarium, which conducts rehabilitation sessions of dolphin therapy.
Balaklava district
This is the fourth administrative unit, which includes Sevastopol. A photo of the districts is attached, and above you can see an image of the most recognizable part of the Balaklava district.
His territory is sparsely populated. In total, about 50,000 people live. This is not much, given that this area includes 26 villages, 1 city and 1 settlement without status.
Inkerman, which originated in the 600s of our era, deserves special attention. This is a small town located near the Black River, which flows into the Sevastopol Bay. It is through it that the railway to Simferopol passes. The town is original - there is a medieval fortress of Kalamita and a famous factory of vintage wines, in the cellars of which about 1.05 million decaliters of an elite drink are stored.
Fiolent
This picturesque cape of volcanic origin belongs to the Balaklava region. The southern ridge of the Crimean mountains originates there, ending near Feodosia.
Fiolent is one of the most favorite places among tourists. People who want to successfully invest their money, they buy real estate or land here, on which they then build cottages, rented out in the summer at very good (for owners) prices. Extreme lovers love Fiolent, because it is an ideal place for rope jumping and kayaking.
From the cottages located here, an amazing view of the endless sea distance opens up, but few people, even settling here, realize the “blue dream” of a daily morning jog to the beach. It seems that the water is within easy reach. It is, but you have to go down to it. There are several beaches and slopes, but on average 600-800 steps (not all of them are civilized) will have to be overcome. And then go back. Not everyone can do this every day.
So which area is the best? If you focus on the reviews of locals and visitors, then Gagarinsky and Leninsky are the most convenient and successful in all plans. But also many note that in those microdistricts that are close to the sea or attractions, housing prices are high. Therefore, we can conclude that all four main districts of Sevastopol are good in their own way. Which one to choose for living or relaxing, you need to decide for yourself, on an individual basis, depending on personal requirements and goals.
