The current President of Spain was born in 1955 in the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela in the family of a judge. In addition to him, the family had four more brothers and a sister. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Oddly enough, former fellow students claim that as a student, Rahoy was a rather clumsy young man with little or no interest in politics. After graduating from university, Rajoy began working in real estate. However, from about the age of 22, the future president of Spain nevertheless began to gradually join political affairs.

Political career

1983 was a significant year for Mariano Rajoy - he was elected as a member of the Legislative Council of the Spanishthe town of Pontevedra. And in 1986, he begins to hold a position in the lower house of the Spanish Parliament. However, soon after that, Rajoy moves to the post of chairman of the government of his native district - Galicia. For several years, he has been waging a stubborn political struggle and dealing with the affairs of the government of his district.

Since 1999, Rajoy has served as Minister of Culture and Education. In the period from 2001 to 2002 he was in charge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country. Rajoy was a candidate for the presidency of Spain in 2004 and 2008. However, his party won only in 2011, and Rajoy managed to achieve his goal.
