According to numerous stories, in ancient times, a lake stretched on this place, whose name was Batyr (translated as "Brave Warrior"). Subsequently, a depression formed here, which was associated with the processes of leaching of s alty rocks, with karst and subsidence processes that took place on the spacious shores of the Caspian Sea. You can find out where the Karagie depression is and what it is by reading this article.

Peculiar and unique Karagie. In the spring, locals gather champignon mushrooms here. The amazingly beautiful snakes, foxes, hares and corsacs live here. Vultures soar in the skies above the depression, looking for prey. And the moufflons follow everything that happens around with their keen eyes. However, there are many more secrets that this amazing depression hides.

Karagie Depression: location, description

About 50 kilometers from the city of Alatau on the Mangyshlak plateau (easternpart) from the northwest to the southeast stretches one of the deepest depressions in the world, called Karagiye. Translated from the Turkic language, the name means "Black Mouth".

There is steppe all around, only in some places there are green bushes of grass near the roadsides.

This is the fifth largest depression in the world, which is part of the huge Ustyurt plateau. The cliffs near the depression are composed of Neogene deposits. Its surface part consists of strong Sarmatian limestones, the central part - of soft clayey rocks. The relief of the depression continues to form due to mudflows, winds, and deformations of river beds. Below we present more detailed information about this interesting place.

The Karagie depression is more than 40 km long and 10 km wide. Its depth reaches 132 m below sea level.

Origin

The basis of karst formation is the dissolving and eroding activity of natural groundwater. Thanks to underground water seeping into cracks found in limestone, gypsum and dolomite, rocks were dissolved and cracks expanded. The consequence of such phenomena was the formation of deep and narrow abysses. Such recesses, gradually expanding, created large caves and funnels. As the caves expanded, their walls and roofs collapsed under the weight of the layers above.

Moreover, this process, often repeated, gradually went deep into the earth. In connection with the occurrence at a depth of calcareous s alt-bearing deposits, and in connection with the aboveprocesses, huge voids arose, gradually filled with crushed rock. Among other things, funnels, niches, blind valleys, depressions, grottoes, cavities, passages, hollows and natural wells arose here. This is how the Karagie depression developed.

Now, having taken on a modern shape, the depression is almost formed. But relief-forming processes continue to this day, as evidenced by ledges and cliffs, dissected by deep gorges (ravines and ravines).

Local features

This area has always been the object of research by scientists.

It turned out that the Karagie depression (almost waterless) is a kind of rain cloud generator. In the summer, under the influence of rising air, many kilometers of rain clouds are formed above it. This is based on ground-based observations and satellite imagery.

At the bottom of the hollow is a small pool and a spring called "Cool" with slightly brackish water, flowing from a once drilled well. Water from it flows along the bottom of the depression and is lost in its southern part, sinking into the sands. The southwestern part is occupied by a drying lake, which is impossible to reach, as it can fall through.

Conclusion

The Karagie Hollow in each person causes a completely different reaction and sensations. Some, being in these places, experience peace and joy. And others, on the contrary, feel headaches, anxiety, nausea, mood deterioration and decline.strength.

Many old-timers believe that the "Black Maw" in this way makes it clear who should stay here and who should not. No one can explain what this is about.

UFOs were often observed here, to which the researchers gave different explanations. For example, there was a version that this depression was a passage to another world. And UFOs arrive in order to get into that parallel world. The very first UFO appeared here back in 1979.

Whatever it is, many of Karagie's mysteries are still unsolved.
