Four children of the Zapashny family experienced the blockade together with their grandmother Anna Makarovna. Over time, they were evacuated, and they ended up in the Volga region. There, finally, the Zapashnys were able to meet their mother.

Road to the circus

Lidiya Karlovna performed in the circus number "Sharp Shooters" together with her husband's partner. But there was still not enough money to feed the family, although after the performances she unloaded wagons and barges at night. The Zapashnys knew the concept of "need".
