Perhaps the most beautiful of all large birds on earth - this is how many would describe a peacock, this bird, which is literally the brightest representative of the pheasant family. Few people know that there are about 200 species of these birds, including individuals that appeared as a result of various mutations. But white peacocks stand out in particular.
Unique birds
Even without the bright plumage of their famous colorful counterparts, they look truly chic. White peacocks stand out in many ways. You can start with the fact that, unlike many other completely white representatives of the fauna, they are not albinos. They are, so to speak, white by nature. And, accordingly, their eyes are not red, but, which is also very rare, blue (in males) and blue (in females). An incomplete dominant white gene is a key factor that breeders of these birds must consider.
It is true that the white peacock does not have such bright iridescent colors in its plumage, as well as the famous "eye" at the end of the feather. But still, fluffing his tail and becoming like a giant dandelion, he is amazing with his beauty. And a beautiful crestadorning his head completes the picture. Actually, what we used to call a peacock's tail is not. In fact, these are feathers that differ in length from all the others. And their owners are only males. Well, the real tail, hiding behind all this beauty, is no different. Interestingly, the peacock shows its beautiful plumage only during the mating season to attract females, three or four of which he usually manages to charm. Thus, from season to season, a new polygamous family is born. But the rest of the time it is almost impossible to make a peacock pose in all its glory. He will fluff his luxurious tail only if he is angered.
Living Decoration
White peacocks, like ordinary ones (if you can call them that), left a big mark in the culture, literature, religion and art of the peoples of many countries. In Iran and India, they are considered national symbols. The Buddha is often depicted riding this bird. White peacocks, often featured in advertisements for zoos and national parks around the world, are apt symbols to encourage visitors to visit these places. Although today peacocks do not mostly act as sacred birds, as they did in ancient times, their breeding and caring for them is a life's work for many people. Moreover, white peacocks, along with other birds of this species, do not require special care. Anyone who has ever bred ordinary chickens will easily cope with this task. Although keeping peacocks and chickens together is notrecommended, as the latter may simply be beaten to death. Peacocks are also distinguished by the fact that they quite easily adapt to various natural and weather conditions, they feel equally comfortable both in hot countries and in more severe northern ones. Not surprisingly, many photographs taken around the world show the white peacock as the key character.
