Recently, the lexicon of young people, and in particular, anime lovers, has been replenished with a new term. Today, the word "hikikomori" (more often pronounced simply as "hikki") is in vogue. What it is? The Japanese call it teenagers who retire to their room, not wanting to communicate with anyone, work or study. Such a person can easily not contact the outside world for several months. To the average person, this behavior may seem like a sign of a mental disorder. However, there are more and more such "nuts" every day, the number is already in the millions.

In Japan, already in 1998, a book was published that answers the questions: “hikki - what is it?” and “how to protect your child?”. In fact, this is a manual that will help to cope with this phenomenon. Tamaki Saito, the author of the work, does not hesitate to say that in Japan this has become a real problem. In a prosperous and highly developed country, more than a million teenagers (and this is almost one percent of the total population of the state) due to misunderstoodFor reasons, they shy away from communication and do not want to contact the outside world.

The author's revelations caused a real shock among the people of Japan. But if you dig deeper, you can see that the problem has not arisen in recent years.

The big city problem

If you go somewhere in the far north and talk about hikikomori, people will be very surprised. Hickey? What is it?” they ask you. Of course, in places with few people, this phenomenon is unlikely to occur. Any guest is welcome there.

However, let's look at the situation from the other side. Huge modern cities involve constant daily communication with a large number of familiar and unfamiliar people. Most often, the situations in which they have to face are repeated. That is, a person knows in advance what he should say, what to ask, how to answer, what facial expression he should have in this or that situation. This is where the “green longing” comes in.

Add to this Mondays, which our people “love” so much (by the way, it is not surprising that Russian hickeys have also begun to appear recently). After all, for two days off a person simply weaned from work, and you have to join the system again. On such a day, anyone wants to pretend to be sick, tired. Do anything to stay home.

After all, each of us experienced this feeling: I don’t want to go to work (study), I won’t open the door to friends (relatives) who will come soon, and so on. So being a hickey is normal? And each of us is a littlehikikomori?

What are they doing

The main question that arises in all relatives of a young man who suddenly became a hickey: “What is he doing behind closed doors?” The bulk will answer simply: "The fool is playing!". After all, it’s true: he doesn’t want to study, he doesn’t want to work either, he sleeps until noon, he spends all his free time at the computer or in front of the TV. He does not even want to communicate with his relatives. Only a couple of phrases can say without opening the door. And the rest of the world does not interest him at all.

Some joke about hickeys: "What kind of behavior is this? Yes, they just remembered the instructions of their parents. After all, they were told to them in childhood: "Sit quietly at home and don't open the door to anyone." Indeed, the door to the hikikomori room only opens at night. A teenager sneaks into the kitchen and eats quickly before anyone sees him.

How hickeys become

This can't happen to a person all at once. Most often this is the result of prolonged depression. For example, every day at a common table, relatives share their impressions with each other, talk about new acquaintances, about their successes in their careers, etc. All this is listened to by a guy or girl who is currently having difficulties in their personal or professional sphere of life. And every day their self-confidence decreases, they stop believing in themselves.

This phenomenon originated in Japan. But in this country today it is very difficult to get a job, young people simply do not believe that they can find at least some place.in life. However, all parents dream that their son or daughter will take a good position in some prestigious company, and they never tire of reminding their children of this.

By the way, this phenomenon is common not only among Japanese youth. Many such recluses have recently appeared in our country as well. Russians no longer ask in surprise: “Hikki? What is it? Due to instability, this phenomenon has become the norm in Russia. Young people are not able to identify life guidelines, they have no goal, and no one wants to notice their problems. Questions pile up and there are no answers. That is why some Russian youth just want to hide from the whole world and not answer anyone.

It is worth noting that while the behavior of a teenager did not differ from generally accepted norms, no one noticed him. However, as soon as he found a kind of way out of a difficult situation and closed himself in, the world around him became agitated. Everyone around began to talk about the fact that if you do not work, you will not receive a pension. Psychiatrists seriously say that children need to be treated. But hickeys (photo above) are not psychos at all. One has only to liberate such a teenager a little, and he suddenly turns out to be a sociable and successful person. So no need to pressure him. Become a real friend to him, invite him for a walk, show him something interesting, and he will "thaw".

Hickeys around the world

Western countries are sure that such a phenomenon as “hikikomori” could only appear among “strange Japanese”. But this is not true. Already today, the Network is replete with references to hickeys. Teens from all over the world share onlinewith their experiences. One has only to read the notes of Russian hickeys - how much pain these young people pour out into the World Wide Web, because they are not heard at home. But you just need to understand them, delve into their problems, discuss their complexes, believe in their talents.

In any country in the world there are several dozen teenagers who will happily drop out of school and shut themselves off from the world. But is there even one parent in our country who will understand such an act? And not every child in Russia has a separate room to hide in. Therefore, for the Russians, the word hikikomori is still only a fashionable expression.

Afterword

we are recluses and hickeys
we are recluses and hickeys

To be honest, almost every teenager has something from this culture. Some young people, for example, attend schools and universities only because it is necessary. With what joy they would say: "We are recluses and hickeys, do not touch us, we will only sleep, eat and watch TV." But that's not possible. Therefore, they sleep in class, are not interested in new information, and most often just play on their mobile phones.

Such teenagers do not want to spend much time in their home. After all, there are parents, and it’s difficult to talk to them, you can’t explain to them your desire to close yourself off from the whole world. Even behind a computer, you can’t hide from them, they will still be interested in success, surprised at a bad mood. So we also have our own hickeys in Russia. Maybe it's just time for us to change something in our lives?
