In total, Yunus-bek Bamatgireevich has six brothers and five sisters. The boy grew up in the village of Angusht, received a general secondary education at a boarding school in Beslan.

Already being a lieutenant colonel, Yunus-bek Yevkurov takes part in the Second Chechen War. He repeatedly shows personal courage and initiative in the implementation of military operations. As chief of staff of the Guards Airborne Regiment, the lieutenant colonel personally supervises the release of twelve Russian servicemen from captivity.
The exploits of an officer on the battlefield did not go unnoticed. In 2000 Yevkurov was awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
From military service to politics
In 2001, an Ingush officer enters the Academy of the General Staff, after which he is sent to the Ural Military District as a deputy intelligence directorate. Far from his native North Caucasus, he served until 2008.
At this time, a real conflict flares up in Ingushetia, which threatens to escalate into a real armed confrontation. The situation is aggravated by the presence of the Islamist underground.
Murat Zyazikov resigns, and the federal center decides to appoint Yunus-bek Yevkurov as President of Ingushetia. Not a member of any clan, he was supposed to become a neutral figure in the leadership of the republic and unite society.
He began his inauguration with a beautiful gesture - he refused the solemn inauguration, explaining this by the desire to save budget funds. The new president of Ingushetia held the first meeting with the citizens of the republic right in the central mosque in Nazran. Here he began to call on the elite to support him in his duties as head of the republic.
Attempts and scandals
Combat officer successfully passed the test of battle, but the greatest danger awaited him in the civil service. In 2009, an assassination attempt was made on him in Nazran.
The motorcade of the President of the Republic of Ingushetia was attacked by a car with explosives on board. As a result of the terrorist attack, one of the guards of the head of the republic was killed, and Yevkurov Yunus-bek, his brother and security officers were seriously injured. The condition of the President of Ingushetia was assessed as grave, but after a short time he overcame all difficulties and resumed his duties.
