Derbenevskaya embankment is located in the city of Moscow, in the Danilovsky district. It is located between the first Paveletsky passage and the Novospassky bridge. Origin of the name
The embankment got its name from the name of the nearest street in the 19th century. And in the XIV century in these places there was a tract Derbenevka.
There are two versions of the origin of the word "derba" or "derbina":
- overgrown arable land, with the top layer removed;
- a meadow depression that is overgrown with bushes or trees.
And the third version, perhaps the most plausible, is that this term meant "wilds", which is typical for any tract.
Short description
It cannot be said that Derbenevskaya embankment is distinguished by the presence of historical places and architectural sights. Today it is a business part of the Danilovsky district or Novospassky Dvor, where there are many business centers andadministrative establishments. One of the most remarkable is house number 7, or rather a complex of buildings.
History of Building 7
The complex of buildings and structures at the address: house number 7, Derbenevskaya embankment is one of the oldest enterprises in the textile industry of the capital. By the end of the century before last, Derbenevskaya Street was an intra-factory street. On the left side were located production facilities, and on the right - settlements of workers and employees. At the beginning of the last century, this enterprise was one of the largest, with 4,000 employees.
It is believed that everything began with a small tannery, which was founded by a Swiss in 1823. Then the enterprise changed hands, but in the 70-80s of the century before last, it was possible to equip the workshops with high-tech (at that time) machines. And in 1899, the enterprise had workshops for painting and mercerization, bleaching and a number of other operations. A railway line was brought to the enterprise, warehouses appeared, and not only in the capital and Russia, but also in China itself, Kokand, Tashkent and Khiva.
The factory "Emil Tsindel in Moscow" on Derbenevskaya embankment worked until 1915. The greatest damage was inflicted in May of the same year, when an anti-German pogrom took place. In 1918, the factory was “taken away” by the current government, later it was called the “First Cotton Printing Factory”. The factory closed in the 2000s.
Modern factory life
From 2006 to 2008Over the years, the developer Promsvyaznedvizhimost CJSC has carried out a complete reconstruction of all buildings and structures, converting everything to be used as an office center. Work was carried out to strengthen the foundation, attics were built on, external metal stairs appeared. All masonry defects have been eliminated and the historical atmosphere has been preserved.
In general, the business center occupies about 8.7 hectares, and the floor area is 100,000 square meters. m with a new name - "Novospassky Dvor".
Other interesting buildings
Near the Novospassky bridge, near the place where the two embankments of Sluzovaniya and Derbenevskaya separate, there is the Temple of the Life-Giving Trinity. This church is many years old, it was built from 1686 to 1689. However, it is located a little in the depths of the area, and there is a residential building in front. This is already a “Stalinist” building.
The house where factory workers used to live is now a museum dedicated to the history of the cotton-printing factory.
In the place where the fountain is now located, there used to be a chemical laboratory of the enterprise, but since the entire building was recognized as harmful, it was demolished.
