Modern architects never cease to amaze the public and are increasingly trying to get closer to the sun. To date, there is a rating of the tallest buildings in the world. Classification on this basis is ambiguous due to the fact that different methods of calculating the height are used. The most common calculation method: vertical line markings from ground level to the highest elevation of a building structural element: the spire.
Burj Khalifa
To date, the tallest tower in the world is in Dubai. Its height is 828 meters. The shape of the building resembles a stalagmite or a minaret, which is quite typical for an Islamic society.
Before that, the leader was the Warsaw Radio Mast, but it collapsed in 1991, having stood for almost 20 years (construction ended in 1974).
The Dubai Tower was originally supposed to be 1.5 kilometers high. However, geological survey work showed that the ground at the planned installation site would not withstand such a weight, so the project was revised and the height was reduced to 1 kilometer. Construction began in 2004 andmoved at an accelerated pace, 1-2 floors per week. About 12 thousand people were employed at the works.
For the construction of the tower, a specially developed cement composition was used that can withstand temperatures of + 50 degrees. The tower is installed on hanging piles (200 pieces), 45 meters long and 1.5 meters in diameter. The structure is asymmetrical in shape to reduce wind sway.
Tokyo sky tree
The second tallest tower in the world is the Tokyo Skytree. Located in Tokyo in Japan. Its height is 634 meters. The shape resembles a five-tiered pagoda. The tower has two viewing platforms, at the level of 350 and 450 meters. From the last platform rises a passage with a glass floor, where only the brave ones climb, you can climb up to the last 5 meters of the tower.
Construction began in 2008 and was completed in 2012. In addition to viewing platforms, the tower is used for broadcasting, it has many shops and restaurants, and at the foot there is an aquarium and a planetarium.
Shanghai Tower
The tallest tower in the world, ranked 3rd, is the Shanghai Tower, which is 632 meters high. The building was erected in 8 years, from 2008 to 2015. An interesting story is connected with this tower. Back in 2014, two Russian extreme athletes made their way to the construction site and climbed onto the roof, conquering almost the entire height. The whole process was captured on a video camera and the story posted on YouTube. For 2 years, the video has been viewed by 60 million people.

Which is the tallest tower in the world? Of course, the list cannot be complete without the Guangzhou TV Tower in China. Its height is 610 meters. This unique building up to a height of 450 meters has hyperboloid bearing structures with a central core. Construction was completed in time for the Asian Games in 2010.

The sixth tallest tower in the world is located in Canada, its height is 553.3 meters. The tower held the palm from 1976 to2007 years. Today it is the tallest free-standing structure in the entire Western Hemisphere.
At a height of 351 meters, a restaurant is equipped, the surface of which rotates. In cloudless weather, you can see a panorama of 100 kilometers. The observation deck with a glass floor is at 342 meters.
And for extreme sportsmen in 2011 a unique attraction was opened. You can walk along the ledge at a height of 346 meters, of course, only with insurance.
World Trade Center 1
In seventh place in the list of the tallest towers in the world is the Freedom Tower or World Trade Center, New York USA. The height of the structure is 541.3 meters, the tower was opened in 2013. This is the tallest office building on the planet. A building was erected on the site where the twin towers once stood. The width of each side of the base is almost equal to the width of the sides of the twin towers - 61 meters.
Ostankino
And finally, the tallest tower in the world located on the territory of the Russian Federation. The height of the Ostankino tower is 540 meters. At an altitude of 330 meters, the Seventh Heaven restaurant operates.
There are certain restrictions, for example, the entire area in the area of 180 meters near the tower is forbidden where you can not walk. Architects assured the public in 1967 that the structure would last 300 years. The observation deck is also absolutely safe, so committing suicide will not work.
SThe tower is associated with several tragic events. So in 1993, a military conflict took place right in front of the television center, as a result of which 46 people died. In 2005, a fire broke out on the 2nd floor, and a number of TV channels stopped broadcasting. In 2013 there was also a fire, about 1 thousand people were evacuated, no one was injured.

The ninth tallest tower in the world is Taipei 101, in Taipei, Taiwan. The height of the structure is 509.2 meters; construction was completed in 2004. The tower has been featured in several feature films and documentaries: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Godzilla: Final Wars, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Life After Humans, where a version of how after 70 years, the structure will collapse.
Objects under construction
Today, the architects of the world are trying to surpass the Barj Khalifa in size. In the first place, again, Dubai, where by 2020 they plan to build The Tower with a height of 1050 meters.
In second place is Saudi Arabia, where it is also planned to complete the construction of the Jeddah Tower by 2020. The tower must exceed 1 kilometer in height. Who will win the race for the lead, time will tell.
Besides this, several high towers are being built in other countries, but absolutely no claims to leadership in the ranking. A tower of 644 meters is being built in the capital of Malaysia - Kual Lampur, in China Greenland Center - 636 meters.
About 25th place there are two facilities that should open around 2021 in Russia:
- Lakhta Center, St. Petersburg, 462 meters;
- Akhmat Tower, Grozny, 435 meters.
I would like to believe that with these objects it will not be the same as with the Park Hyatt Tower, Mumbai, India. The building was supposed to be 720 meters high, construction began in 2010 and was scheduled for completion in 2016. But already in 2011, the construction site was frozen, then it was reopened several times and finally closed again in 2016.
