Russian swimmer Alexander Leonidovich Sukhorukov was born on February 22, 1988 in Ukhta, Komi Republic. Alexander owes his first appearance in the pool to his mother. Svetlana Vasilievna Sukhorukova, an experienced swimming instructor, trains children in the city's Yunost swimming pool. When Sasha was not yet a year old, she took him to the pool and hardened him in a small bath. There he learned to swim. The talent of a swimmer manifested itself from an early age. Alexander Sukhorukov swam distances much faster than his peers.

First success in swimming

Alexander Sukhorukov made the decision to move from the usual general education institution where he studied to the Ukhta sports school on his own. It happened in seventh grade. The boy was literally delirious with the desire to become a champion, spending a lot of time inpool. Physically very strong since childhood, Alexander was determined to win. Having fallen into the hands of the wonderful coach Sergei Petrovich Fedorov and largely thanks to him, the future champion began to win his first awards.

Step by step, Alexander Sukhorukov moved towards his dream. The swimmer, starting from the age of 11, more than once became the winner and prize-winner at the championships and championships of the Republic of Komi among boys in his age group. He was particularly good at short-distance swims thanks to his good sprinting ability.

Already in 2002, Alexander Sukhorukov received the title of Candidate Master of Sports of Russia.

Playing for the national team

Alexander Sukhorukov is a swimmer who stood out among his peers. His success has not gone unnoticed. In 2004, Alexander was invited to the national team of the Russian Federation. The first competition in the Russian team, in which the athlete took part, was the European Swimming Championship in Spanish Palma de Mallorca in 2006.

From this time on, serious sports victories begin. Alexander Sukhorukov, for whom swimming has turned from an occupation for the soul into a real profession, worked hard to achieve his goals.

Speaking as part of the Russian national team, Alexander brought his team the excellent results expected from him. For example, at the World Championships in Dubai, as part of the Russian team, Alexander Sukhorukov showedgreat time in the 4x200m freestyle relay and also set a new world record of 6 minutes 49.04 seconds.

Victory in big sport

There are many glorious victories in the piggy bank of the outstanding Russian swimmer. Alexander became a silver medalist at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing as part of the relay team: D. Izotov, N. Lobintsev, A. Sukhorukov, E. Lagunov. Sukhorukov holds the world record in the 4x100m relay in Manchester, England.

Alexander became vice-champion at the 2008 European Championships in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay race. Twice gold for the country (in the men's relay at a distance of 4 x 100 m, as well as 4 x 200 m freestyle) as part of the Russian team, Sukhorukov won in Hungary, at the European Championships held in August 2010.

Among the sporting achievements of the athlete is the victory at the World Championships in 2010 in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and in the same place - the title of world record holder in the 4x200m relay. Alexander Sukhorukov is a swimmer, whose photo appeared after this success on the pages of many media, became the pride of the Russian team at this championship.

In 2011, Sukhorukov becomes the silver medalist at the European Championships, held in Szczecin, Poland.

A similar water sports tournament in Berlin in 2014 was another victorious competition for the Russian team. Our men's team, which consisted of A. Grechin, A. Sukhorukov, N. Lobintsev and V. Morozov, won the silver medal in the royal relay 4 x 200 m,beating the Italian team by 0.11 sec. and lost to the French swimmers. Alexander Sukhorukov showed his best result in the relay swim.

Sukhorukov is a five-time champion of Russia, as well as a multiple record holder of the Russian Federation and Europe.

Workdays of an athlete

High performance in sports is given to A. Sukhorukov through intensive training. The swimmer lives in St. Petersburg. He trains at the Olympic Training Center under the guidance of Sergei Yuryevich Tarasov. With the coach, Alexander, as well as with his teammates, developed good friendly relations. The athlete spends a lot of time at the training camp, often travels abroad. It rarely happens in his native city of Ukhta - only about a month during the year. Being a professional swimmer, the athlete simultaneously studied at the Ukhta State Technical University, because he believes that economic education may be useful in the future (after the end of his sports career).

Government awards and titles

Alexander Sukhorukov is an Honored Master of Sports of Russia. This badge was personally presented to him in 2011 by the head of the Komi Republic V. Gaiser. The world record holder has repeatedly occupied the top positions in the ranking of the best republicanathletes.

In 2009, the swimmer was awarded a medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, II degree. So the state marked his contribution to the development of physical culture, sports, sports achievements at the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing.
