There are a huge number of varieties of aquarium fish in the world. All of them differ in some external features. But among them there is one rather funny fish, when looking at which a smile appears on the face by itself.
Goldfish without a fin
Funny fish, whose name is translated from Latin as "heavenly eye" refers to decorative aquarium fish. The first mention of this species appeared in the distant 1772. Several manuscripts were brought from China to Paris, telling about wonderful goldfish that do not have an upper fin and amaze with their amazing eyes raised to the sky.
The appearance of these fish is described even in ancient legends. Legends say that the "heavenly eye" were bred in Buddhist monasteries. These fish, by turning their eyes upward, were able to look directly at God. They were revered, looked after as one of the sacred animals. This type of goldfish is still very popular among the Chinese. As before, they live in artificial ponds at monasteries.
Selection result
Connoisseurs say that without human intervention, the origin of this type of fish would be impossible. They were bred under special conditions. The mostthe funniest fish in the world was bred in special porcelain flasks that were deprived of full access to sunlight. The flasks had small holes at the top through which light entered the water. Therefore, in order to get at least a piece of solar energy, which is so necessary for life, the fish turned their gaze upwards. After some time, offspring began to appear with such eyes all the time. And they began to be called skygazers.
Features
It seems to many that decorative aquarium fish must certainly be small. The funniest fish, the photo of which you see in this article, differs from its counterparts by a rather decent growth. The length of an adult reaches fifteen centimeters. It has a very short head and a small nose. As we noted earlier, the fin is completely absent at the top. When selling, experienced specialists will immediately identify a real skygazer. If there is even a slight hint of a fin or a strip along the body on the back of the fish, then the price of such a goldfish will immediately drop dramatically.
The eyes of the fish are directed upward. The size of the eyes is quite impressive. They are lined with dense connective tissue and skin. "Heavenly eye" has a very beautiful tail cut in two. Skygazers can boast a luxurious tail, it is much more magnificent and larger than that of ordinary aquarium inhabitants.
Also, these fish have a decent lifespan. There were cases when skygazers lived to be fifteen years old. Average age 10-12 years old.
Containment conditions
The funniest fish on the planet can live in any conditions. The main thing is to have enough free space. Buddhist monks kept such fish in artificial reservoirs at monasteries. Today, aquarists settle the "heavenly eye" in bulk aquariums. According to experts, one fish 13-15 centimeters long should have fifty to sixty liters of water.
Due to the peculiarities of the structure of the eyes and head, the funny fish has some problems with feeding. In winter, the aquarium is recommended to be heated. Also, these fish quite often suffer from various bacterial diseases. It is better to limit their "communication" with other fish and keep in a separate aquarium.
Perhaps, it will not be possible to call the maintenance and breeding of the “heavenly eye” simple and easy. But many fans of aquarium fish, especially goldfish, assure that these wonderful funny creatures are worth it.
