Among all types of carp, the most valuable and desirable trophy for a fisherman is considered a mirror. It is much larger than many of its counterparts, but its scales, on the contrary, are much smaller. Catching a mirror fish is not easy. This will require a lot of patience, skill and caution.

The carp's body is round and elongated, and there is a small hump on the back. The upper body is darker than the lower. Usually it is painted in dark green shades, and the abdomen and sides are copper or yellowish. It is easy to distinguish fish from other representatives of the genus by large scales, which are rarely located on the body. As a rule, it covers only the back and a stripe along the lateral line that runs from tail to head. Around the mouth are two short and two long whiskers.

Mirror fish grow fast and can reach 30 to 100 centimeters in length. Its weight varies from 500 grams to 10-20 kilograms. The record holder among all caught carp weighed about50 kilograms.

Catching mirror fish is harder than other carp. She is extremely cautious and afraid of even the slightest rustle. The fisherman should be extremely careful and not make sudden movements. You can choose the most varied bait. In addition to the usual peas, worms, dough and maggots, carp can even appreciate cucumber or berries.

Mirror carp is a very demanding and fastidious fish. It is sensitive to weather changes. Due to any jump in pressure or temperature, he becomes passive and loses his appetite. Carp feel best in warm but oxygenated water. It avoids great depths and stays aground. For moving, he usually chooses standard trails and feeding places, so the success in fishing largely depends on the right choice of place.

Hunting for carp begins in May and ends in mid-autumn. The peak of fish activity falls on August-September, when they prepare for the upcoming cold weather. It is better to catch them in the morning or closer to the night, but in the afternoon the chances are much less.
