Kalanchoe daigremontiana, or doctor plant, is a representative of tropical succulent (succulent) plants of the genus Kalanchoe of the Crassulaceae family, hundreds of species of which grow in the tropical zone of South Africa, Asia and the island of Madagascar. Kalanchoe Degremona - a standing shrub 50 - 70 centimeters high with a thick powerful stem and fleshy grayish-green leaves - growers grow indoors and in greenhouses. The edges of its shiny leaves are hung with brood buds, from which "babies" develop - tiny plants with roots. They easily leave the jagged edge of the leaf and take root in the soil just as easily.

This ornamental plant is also considered medicinal. Information about the medicinal properties of Kalanchoe Degremont, the photo of which is presented below, appeared relatively recently. Freshly squeezed juice from the leaves of the plant successfully treats the common cold in adults and children. Plant care

Caring for this plant is quite simple. A pot with light-loving Kalanchoe should be placed on a windowsill intensively lit by the sun, and in the summer it is preferable to find a place for the plant in the fresh air. At home, Kalanchoe Degremona grows on sandy soils, so for indoor breeding it is recommended to take loose, breathable soil with the addition of coarse sand and a small amount of peat. The pot can be small, but always with good drainage. No need to re-moisten the soil. Kalanchoe moderate watering in the summer season is sufficient, and in winter the unpretentious plant needs only limited watering. Its long-stalked pink flowers bloom in winter.

Kalanchoe Degremona is resistant to various pests and diseases. In cases where the plant is waterlogged or kept at low temperatures, it may suffer from gray mold, aphids and scale insects.

To obtain juice with antibacterial and antiviral activity, it is recommended to keep freshly cut leaves in a dark and cool place for no more than a week. The leaves of the plant contain polysaccharides, enzymes and organic acids. The filtered, sterilized, refrigerated juice of the plant can be used externally throughout the year. The range of diseases that can be treated with the juice of "indoor ginseng" (the popular name of Kalanchoe Degremont) is quite wide. With its help, trophic ulcers of the lower leg, bedsores and fistulas are cured. Kalanchoe juice is a proven remedy in the treatment of purulent infections - infected wounds, boils, abscesses. It is used to treat periodontal disease, bleeding and itching of the gums.
