Timothy Ferriss was born in Southampton, on East Long Island in New York on July 20, 1977, and grew up in nearby East Hampton. He attended St. Paul's School, a boarding school in New Hampshire, and as a student went to study in Japan as an exchange student. He was later accepted into Princeton University, as his faculty impressed him with his essay writing skills.
