Krasnodar Territory is wide plains, green mountain meadows, golden beaches, gentle waters of seas and rivers, dense virgin forests. This is a fertile place to live and an excellent resort for recovery and good rest. This area is famous for its rich flora and fauna. Those unique creatures that the Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory presents to the public require special attention.

It describes a lot of plants and living beings that need care and protection, deserve careful treatment. They are represented by the following types:

  • animal world: mammals, amphibians, fish, reptiles, birds, insects, crustaceans, mollusks, worms;
  • flora: various algae, pine-like, magnoliophytes, lycopsids, bryophytes, mushrooms.

It is impossible to describe all the species that the Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory contains, we will consider only some of them.

Mammals

Quite a lot of mammals are named by the Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory. Animals are represented by 26 names. Basically, they include various types of bats, but there are also those that belong to the family of mustelids, felines, bovids and even dolphins, represented among others by the Black Sea bottlenose dolphin.

The population of dolphins of this species is rapidly declining, perhaps very soon it will be impossible to enjoy the graceful jumps of these amazing creatures, to hear their shrill cries, with which they are probably trying to tell us something. After all, after humans, dolphins are the most intelligent creatures on Earth, but they are not adapted to the conditions of our life. The Black Sea is polluted by industrial waste, dolphins are under the keels of fishing boats, they are ruthlessly destroyed by cruel lovers of entertainment. The bottlenose dolphin lives for about 30 years, bears cubs every 2-3 years for 12 months, feeds it for about the same amount of time. By the way, the bottlenose dolphin tolerates captivity better than other species, and can even live and breed near humans, as well as delight us and our children with amazing tricks in dolphinariums.

Birds

Many families (storks, ducks, falcons, grouse, cranes and others) are contained in the Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory. The birds presented in it are truly diverse and their number is very large.

The black stork is a very rare species of beautiful graceful birds disappearing from the face of the Earth. They settle far from human habitation, so their imagelife is poorly understood. It is only known that these birds are monogamous and always remain faithful to their chosen one, which is not so common in the animal world. The male also knows how to take care of the female very beautifully and sing “serenades” to her.

There is a beautiful legend about the appearance of the black stork. Once upon a time, storks were only white and always settled near people, but once one cruel man set fire to the tree on which their nest was located, and it burned down along with helpless chicks. Storks threw themselves into the fire, trying to help their children, but could not save them. And their wings were blackened from burns. Since then, their descendants have been black. From grief, these storks harbored a grudge against people and began to settle only in the wilderness. Who knows what is true and what is fiction. But black storks really do not like to live near people, but they still die out…

Plants

The Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory protects not only the fauna, the plants that are presented on its pages have no less number and are of great value. One of them is figs.

Figs (or fig tree, fig tree) are listed in the Red Book and are protected from destruction. This is not only a medicinal plant that helps in curing many diseases, the fruits of this tree are a he althy delicacy. Unusually tasty jam and jam are made from it.

The story of the fig is truly unique. It originates in ancient Rome, in the legend of Romulus and Remus. It is mentioned there that the she-wolf who nursed them was found under a fig bush. And in the historical annals of Ancient Rome, there is a note that a fig bush suddenly grew in the Roman forum.

The figs were sung by great people, miraculous properties were attributed to its fruits, and the tree itself was revered as sacred. In ancient Greece, the fig tree enjoyed such honor that it was even forbidden to take it out of the state.

Today, the fig is a tree that is treated only as a consumer, without thinking that it can also disappear.

Inhabitants of water bodies

The Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory contains a large number of endangered species of fish. Among them are thorn, Ukrainian lamprey, beluga, sterlet, white-eye, mustachioed char, light croaker and others. Also, the danger threatens the yellow trigle from the order of scorpionfish.

Yellow trigla (or guinea pig) is not only a delicious dish that can decorate your table. It is also an exotic and very attractive fish. She is unusual in that she can not only swim, but also fly. To do this, she has large, wing-like pectoral fins. The coloration of this fish is really amazing, there are brick red, brown, silvery white, pink, bluish-lilac, lilac and bluish shades. Due to pollution of water bodies and constant fishing, it may soon disappear, and the world will lose another bright outstanding specimen.

The Red Book of KrasnodarThe region contains a list and a number of reptiles that are subject to our care and protection. These are newts, toads, frogs, turtles, lizards and snakes. Particular attention in this category should be given to the endangered species - Nikolsky's tortoise (Mediterranean tortoise). She is in danger of extinction! And it has existed on our Earth for 200 million years.

A special project was launched in Sochi to protect this species. An ecological and biological center was created, where found turtles are settled in optimal conditions for them.

And other species

The rest of the species are represented by many insects, crustaceans, mollusks, worms. Contains the Red Book of the Krasnodar Territory of photos, which filmed all kinds of animals and plants that need close attention and protection.

The Red Book is a call to preserve the gene pool of animals and plants. Each person, as the crown of evolution, must be aware of his responsibility for any form of life and understand that the value of our world lies not only in himself, but also in the creatures that inhabit it. What will we leave to our children? A world full of unique, extraordinary or simply beautiful creatures, or an impoverished flora and fauna, the best representatives of which have disappeared from the face of the Earth solely because of our indifference or cruelty.
