One of the subjects of the Russian Federation, which is part of the Siberian Federal District, is the Kemerovo region. The area of the region is 95 thousand km2, according to this indicator it ranks 34th, and in terms of population - 17th. It is home to 2.7 million people. The list of cities in the Kemerovo region, in addition to the regional center, includes 19 administrative-territorial units. The main population is urban, its share in 2017 was 85%. According to statistics, this is one of the areas where most people live outside the Urals, i.e. in the Asian part of the country.

This is not a very large city in Russia, it occupies the 50th place in terms of area, located in the south of the region on the banks of the rivers Tom and Iskitimka. The most populous, of course, is the administrative center - Kemerovo. Next comes Novokuznetsk, where almost the same number lives, 550 thousand people, and the next city is the young Mezhdurechensk, which arose in 1946. Less than 100 thousand people live here, or rather, 98 thousand in 2016.

The largest cities of the Kemerovo region from the list are the same as those listed above. However, there is an exception: 81 thousand people live in the city of Ugra, but in terms of area it is one of the smallest cities.
The smallest in terms of population arethe cities of Guryevsk and Tashtagol, where 28 thousand people live, as well as the city of K altan with a population of 21 thousand, and the smallest - Salair, where only 7 thousand people live, despite the fact that the settlement was founded in 1626.
