Biography
Boris Rubashkin was born to a Don Cossack family on June 17, 1932 in Bulgaria. His father, Semyon Terentyevich, fled from his homeland at the age of 17, after the Bolsheviks executed his older brother. First, the guy settled in Turkey, and then moved to Bulgaria, where he met the young beauty Teodora Lilova in the hospital. He later married her.
There, in Bulgaria, the couple had a son, who was named Boris in honor of the Bulgarian king. The boy was brought up well, he was an obedient, educated child. Went to clubs, loved to sing, dance.
As a teenager, he worked as a collector in stores, collected the proceeds for the day. After school, Boris entered the Institute of Economics. At the same time, he was accepted into a dance ensemble at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), where he worked for two years, andsubsequently became a good soloist.
For family reasons, Boris moved to Prague. There he completed his studies and received a higher education. As a student, he worked at a car wash, where he met an Austrian diplomat. It was he who helped to make a visa for Boris's wife. After the singer's student visa expired in 1962, he and his wife did not return to Bulgaria, but emigrated to Austria.
At first, Boris got a job at a factory, but he did not like it there, and he moved to the Firebird restaurant. The singer, thanks to his voice, made good money.
In 1967, Boris participated in the competition "Best Baritone" and won. Then he moved from the restaurant to work at the Salzburg Opera.
The pseudonym "Rubashkin" appeared with Boris in the early 70s. At the same time, a French publisher asked the singer to put on the dance "Cossack" and write a melody, with which the author did an excellent job.
The time came when some songs began to be banned in the USSR, and almost all of Rubashkin's work was also banned. Therefore, the author began to speak to the public in private clubs.
