The Iraqi war has brought many troubles to the countries of the Asian region. The United States of America entered into an armed conflict. On the one hand, the American government wanted to bring democracy to Iraq, on the other hand, to seize the oil fields. In the article we will talk about the American military figure Lindy England, who worked as a warden in an Iraqi prison.
Short biography
The girl was born on November 8, 1982 in Ashland, Kentucky. Lindy's father was named Kenneth R. England Jr. and her mother was Terry Bowling England. For a long time, Kenneth worked in Cumberland, where he received a stable salary and was able to provide for his family.
There is no information about England's mother, it is only known that she treated her daughter with love. For some reason, the family had to move to Fort Ashby in West Virginia when Lindy England was only two years old.
Moving
The family's budget was not very large, so the three of them had to huddle in an uncomfortable trailer. These circumstancesleft a serious imprint on the character of the girl.
The family was extremely uncomfortable in the trailer, it was very small. It did not have such facilities as a normal shower or toilet. Linda England was diagnosed with selective (selective) mutism in early childhood.
Dream
The girl always wanted to help people and be useful to everyone. Her full name is Lindy Rana England. She wanted to become a volunteer and deal with the consequences of adverse weather conditions. But the childhood dream did not come true for some reason, which we will talk about a little later.
Study
She studied hard at Frankfurt High School. The teachers did not notice her strange behavior or any quirks that betrayed the sadist in this sweet girl.
When she was still studying, she decided to enlist in the reserve of the United States Army, because she was a zealous patriot and loved her homeland.
Lynndie England - her name in English - has always strived to be independent from her parents and get paid herself. To do this, she gets a job as a cashier in the storehouse of the IGA grocery chain.
She did not forget about her childhood dream, and the money received from the results of her work was saved for college. After graduation, she went to work at a factory that raised chickens.
At her new job, she met a wonderful guy, James L. Fike, who was her colleague. But they did not agree on the characters, and soon had to say goodbye to each other.
Serving in Iraq
The US government is urgently mobilizing volunteers and mercenaries to serve in Iraq. Lindy England is one of the first. As noted earlier, she signed up as a volunteer while still at school.
She became subordinate to Charles Graner, with whom she began a relationship a little later. And in October 2004, at the medical center, she gave birth to a son from Charles.
Working as a prison guard
She was promoted to private and was a specialist in the US Army. She spent almost her entire service in the Abu Ghraib prison, where she physically and mentally abused the prisoners.
She did not shy away from any methods: she rode naked prisoners, threw food into toilet barrels and beat the guilty in every possible way. For some obscure reason, these actions were filmed and shown on the SBS channel in the 60 minutes program.
But not only she took part in the atrocities. This was done by a group of ten American soldiers. Photos from the scene were also published by The New York Times.
Law charges
Prisoners testified against eleven American soldiers, including Ingrid Lindy. They were accused of sexual harassment, psychological and physical abuse.
On April 30, 2005, the girl pleaded guilty, due to which her sentence was reduced from 16 to 11 years. And she was arrested by a military tribunal in August 2005. She was accused ofcomplicity in criminal abuse of people.
On September 26 of the same year, a trial was held where England was found guilty of six of the seven counts. She was taken into custody at the Naval Combined Brig.
However, on March 1, 2007, she was released early. Ingrid remained on parole until September 2008.
Later life
At the moment, the girl lives in Fort Ashby with her family and son. She doesn't work anywhere. He takes antidepressants and suffers from "Afghan syndrome". In July 2009, she released an autobiographical book with Gary Winkler.
