How the mountain got its name

Another version is inclined to believe that the name of the mountain arose from the merger of the Mansi word "shun", or creature, and the Bashkir "ut" - fire. In ancient times, the peak was used as a watchtower, in the event of an enemy invasion, fire was kindled on it, warning people of nearby settlements about the danger. The second name of the peak is Shunut-stone. In a number of travellers' writings, her other name is also present - the White Stone.
