In Latin, "explication" is "interpretation", "explanation". This word is widely used in various fields of activity: directing, cartography, architecture, museum business. For example, in the latter case, the explication is textual pointers with explanations for the exhibits. Often they are placed next to exhibited objects.

The director's explication is mainly notes, ideas, details of a future performance or movie. The director of photography also makes his own explanations in the form of drawings (lighting schemes, storyboards, and so on), and the sound engineer thus designates the graphic representations of the soundtrack.

In architecture, an explication is a kind of reference material about the organization of space, which should be present in the project documentation. In other words, this is nothing more than an explanation of the symbols on the drawing, a decoding of the list of rooms and theirpurpose, specification description.

Basically, an explication is a table that is placed on a drawing. Or it is drawn up as a separate document that has legal force. In an architectural project, the explication is included in the explanatory note. This document is of great importance, especially in case of unauthorized alteration of the layout of the premises and further legalization. Or for conducting commercial transactions with this object, such as buying, selling, exchanging, donating, and so on. In this case, the BTI explication is necessary.

This document contains information on the compliance of the areas and layout of existing premises indicated in the technical data sheet. If a redevelopment has been made, all changes are legally registered and entered into the explication.

The legalization procedure is carried out by specialists from the Bureau of Technical Inventory. The owner of the premises submits an application to the BTI, and at the appointed time, the inspector inspects the premises and measures the relevant areas. All changes are recorded and made to the original project. Further, as a rule, within a month a new technical passport of the premises is issued, which is valid for one year. This service is chargeable.

If an apartment or residential building is being considered, the explication is detailed information about the total area of \u200b\u200bhousing and a separate description of each room. In this case, indicate:

• useful area (residentialroom);
• area of the apartment, which includes both the living area and the area of utility rooms (excluding verandas, balconies, closets, etc.);
• total area including unheated rooms unsuitable for habitation.

This document also includes technical specifications. In this case, the explication is the nature of the building structure and the list of materials from which it is made, from the foundation to the roof. For interiors, information is contained on the decoration of walls and ceilings, communications, technical equipment, and so on. All rules for compiling an explication are described in a regulatory document called "Rules for the execution of architectural and construction drawings", GOST 21.501 - 93SPDS.
