The history of this invention is quite controversial, since it is not known exactly who and when invented the chastity belt,

This humiliating "lingerie", which gained the greatest popularity during the Crusades, delivered incredible torment to its owners, they developed bedsores, calluses on intimate places and the lower back, and the figure was deformed. But the most terrible consequences were when such a chastity belt, without even suspecting it, was put on a pregnant woman, and it interfered with natural changes in the body. When opening ancient burials of that time, historians found female skeletons dressed in "virtue belts", presumably they could be widows who never waited for their husbands from feats of arms.

And yet this innovative invention of the German monarch was widely known and popular among the men of the Renaissance, it became fashionable throughout Europe. Belts, being a fashionable accessory, began to be made of bull skin and complemented by gold and silver jewelry.
