Ireland is an island state with a unique nature. As legend has it, the cloverleaf was used by Saint Patrick in explaining the Christian concept to the ancient Celts. Since then, Saint Patrick has been considered the patron saint of Ireland, and the shamrock is the national symbol of the country.

Clover really grows in abundance on the island. And there are no snakes here, which, according to legend, were personally expelled by the patron saint of these lands.

The island is dominated by flat landscapes. The areas located inland belong to the lowlands. The highest point of the country is considered to be Mount Carantuill. Despite the height of the mountain (1041 m), this place is very popular among tourists. To climb to the top, vacationers do notwear special equipment, this is not necessary. Only one side of the mountain is dangerous due to flowability and avalanches.

Climate

Ireland enjoys a temperate maritime climate. From the western side, the country is washed by the warm North Atlantic current, which softens the climate of the island. There are no extreme temperatures here. Winters in Ireland are relatively warm. The average temperature fluctuates around +8 °C. In summer, the average temperature is +15 °С.

Irish rivers are an integral part of the island's landscape. With their help, the life of the country is supported: shipping is developing, electricity is being produced. They are the source of most natural resources. Rivers sometimes flow into lakes, forming a large water network that adds color to the already beautiful nature of Ireland. Reservoirs do not freeze even in the cold season and remain full-flowing.

Flora and fauna

Despite the fact that the island is located in the north of Europe, the nature of Ireland is very impressive. Due to the presence of the warm North Atlantic current, the island was named Emerald. But the fact is that the vegetation of the country does not miss the opportunity to please the eye with its green tones even in winter.

Although the nature of the island is not very diverse, but the country has become one of the favorite places to visit for ecotourists. It turns out that approximately 1,300 plant species grow in Ireland, which are distributed throughout the planet from the north to the subtropics. On the arctic islandflowers easily coexist with violets and orchids.

The wildlife in Ireland is amazing. The fauna of the island is best observed in local reserves. The main goal of the country is the conservation of the biological diversity of Irish ecosystems. In this regard, the red deer roams here without fear, the Carolingian squirrel jumps on the branches of trees, and falcons and golden eagles soar in the sky.

Despite the geographical location of the island, the wild nature of Ireland is peculiar, life is seething here.
