The Paleontological Museum of Moscow started from the Kunstkamera, but became a separate organization in 1937, presenting finds from the Mesozoic, Cenozoic and other eras to visitors. From the beginning of World War II until 1987, it practically did not work, as the premises were not suitable for receiving visitors.

Perhaps this room is not the most interesting in the museum, as it does not contain giant lizards, but it gives a full picture of how the planet developed and filled with living beings.

The Precambrian era and the early Paleozoic are represented by the imprints of the most ancient living creatures on Earth - multicellular organisms, many of which have "survived" to this day.

Giant mollusk shells and ancient plant prints tell of an era before dinosaurs.

This is the smallest hall of the museum, as it presents a few exhibits of invertebrates and marine arthropods that lived on the territory of Moscow in the Carboniferous period. Their presence suggests that there was once a seabed in this place.

Halls of the Late Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic

In the sixth hall there are exhibits of the Cenozoic era, the most striking of which are the skeleton of a giant indricotherium, a gomphotherium mastodon, a cave bear and a huge deer.
