In 2017, the legislation regarding car parking spaces has undergone changes. Their essence is the introduction of the minimum and maximum size of a parking space for a car (cars and not only). In addition, the courtyard parking lot has received the status of a real estate object and now it is possible to purchase it as an apartment or a garage.

Size of parking space according to GOST

The main document reflecting the dimensions of parking spaces is SNiP 21-02-99, which began to operate in 2011. It limits the parking area for a passenger car to 2.5 m wide and 5.3 m long. These dimensions do not include the marking of parking spaces, the dimensions of which in width reach 0.1 m.

If the car belongs to a disabled person, the parking parameters increase. The dimensions of the parking space in this case are up to 6.2 m long and 3.6 m wide. 10-20% of the total area of parking lots near large shops, shopping centers, hospitals, cultural institutions, as well as parking lots in modern residential areas is allocated for places for the disabled.

Most often we are talking about parking for cars - trucks are parked in special areas.

Marking should preferably be applied in warm, dry weather with an air temperature of 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. The materials recommended for this are paint, thermoplastic or polymer tape. The size of the parking space may deviate from the allowable by no more than 5 cm.

Sequence of actions when applying parking markings

Unauthorized off-street parking

Practically in any yard, one can observe the seizure by citizens of a part of the yard parking space using various objects - boxes, poles, weights, concrete blocks, etc. Most often, such actions are illegal, since the land surrounding the apartment building isproperty of the municipality or common shared ownership of residents. In the event of a similar situation, you can appeal against the illegal actions of a neighbor by filing a complaint with the Criminal Code, the city administration or the district police officer.

Legal registration of parking in the yard

Under the concept of a parking space, the law understands a part of the parking lot, fenced off with special structures or markings with the obligatory reflection of this fact in the cadastral registration. Thus, the parking place has an exclusively designated purpose (only for parking cars) and, like any real estate, is subject to state registration.

Obtaining the right to exclusive use of this place is a rather laborious procedure. To implement it, you should take actions in this order:

The owners of the house at the general meeting must decide on the transfer of part of the common house territory to private ownership or leasing in order to organize a certain number of parking spaces
