There are many picturesque places in the Leningrad region. One of them is the tributary of the Svir - the Pasha River. This is a fairly large tributary, the length of which is more than 240 kilometers. The area of the river basin is 6600 square kilometers. And, despite the fact that this river is just a tributary, according to estimates, its length exceeds the length of the Svir itself by twelve kilometers.

In ancient times, it was on this river that ships went, carrying tribute to the royal treasury. Even in ancient birch-bark writings there are references to these places.

The Pasha River is a winding body of water with a rather rapid current. There are more than seventy thresholds here. It belongs to the 6th class of navigation and is most often used to transport timber. Surprisingly beautiful beaches, decorated with centuries-old pines and firs, have steep slopes and ascents. In some places, the banks of the river decline and dissolve into endless fields for many kilometers.

In the region of the rapids, there are mainly pebbles, limestone slabs andlarge mighty boulders. But the Pasha River can also boast amazing sandy beaches, most of which are located in its central part.

Transparent

The Pasha River originates from the lake, so many dams have been built at the mouth. The water in most areas is clear and clean. If you sail on a boat and look down, the bottom is clearly visible. Some river inhabitants will not escape your gaze.

There are very few wetlands in this river. They are mostly found in the lower reaches. The Pasha River of the Leningrad Region is one of the few turbulent rivers in this region. Every second it dumps more than 65 cubic meters of water into the Svir. In some places, due to high water and the rapid "activity" of this reservoir, bulk dams were built to prevent spills in the spring.

The river feeds mainly on melted spring waters. It starts to freeze, as a rule, at the end of November, and in the last days of April it starts making noise again.

As we have already said, the river is used as a navigable one. In addition, water from Pasha is used for industrial (a wood processing plant is located on one of the banks) and municipal water supply.

For fishermen

As in many other reservoirs of the Leningrad region, the fish of the Pasha River abounds in its diversity. The mighty catfish, and burbot, and pike perch, and nimble pike, and nimble bream get on the hook here. Many professional fishermen have sat here with a rod, and everyone already has their ownfavorite fishing spots and profitable areas for fishing on the river. Pasha, who generously endows lovers of this type of recreation with rich catches, is not a luxury, but the natural essence of things.

Some come from other cities, claiming that it was here that they once caught the largest carp in their life or the largest bream. And they won’t agree to exchange such a good fishing spot for anything.

The list of the variety of fish that lives in these places is, perhaps, endless. It is no longer uncommon to catch pike perch, whose weight has exceeded five kilograms. Caught on a hook and salmon, and asp. Salmon, as the locals say, came across more than twenty kilograms. Perches and gobies are excellent for the worm. But in the mornings, fishermen recommend eel hunting. There are sabrefish and bream here.

On Pasha, fishermen practice completely different types of fishing. You can go for a catch on a motor or rowing boat. Very often there are fishermen who prefer underwater fishing. There are a lot of places on the shore, as they say, hatched and well-groomed, ideally prepared for convenient fishing.

For relaxation

If you are looking for a cozy and quiet place where you can put up a tent and take a break from the bustle of the city and the smog of a big city, then, according to many tourists, there is simply no better place to find in the Leningrad Region. On the main part of the river isdeveloped infrastructure. This is an ideal place for those who do not like to travel "savages", but prefer modern comfort, but in nature.

Tent camps and modern recreation centers are located here. Fishing camp with boat rentals, campfire gatherings and stories about the biggest fish caught. There is even a hunter's house for those who prefer a different type of recreation to fishing. In general, any traveler will find here an overnight stay, shelter and an interesting story about fishing for a dream to come.

Very often, lovers of kayaking come to Pasha from all over Russia. From early spring to late autumn, boats can be found crossing the pond. Thanks to the availability of fishing spots and developed infrastructure, there is a place to stop after a hard rowing trip.

There are also cyclists here. Of course, the banks of the river do not always allow cycling, but there are places where traveling by two-wheeled transport is a real pleasure.
